8 hours on my computers doing this and that.

that was pretty much all I did yesterday.  5 hours of that time on my computer was on surfing the net. doing research on a number of things I'm interested in.  troubleshooting issues..

1) dual monitor mounts.
2) external sound cards.
3) speakers brands, types 2.1/5.1.
4) gaming mouses, keyboards.
5) multimeters. e-courses.
6) mini-fans 4 my new router.
7) costs to travel to vietnam.

the other 3 hours was spent on gaming.  got 2 games in.

tidbits...  got a call from vito.  discussed near future plans.  emails from the sarge, ironman, mike jagger, the family.

went to sleep at 1am.

it's about 4am now.  my usual routine.  not able to sleep more than 3 hours at a stretch.  sleeping 8 hours straight is a novelty with me nowadays.

the plan for tomorrow...

go get a mini-fan for my new router to keep it cool. 

look at speakers. since logitech is not really sold here, have to look at other options.  read that cyber acoustics has a good system.  #1 rated on amazon for under $50.  model ca3602a.  will also look at creative labs a220.

if the weather is cool, I might go to chatuchak flea market for a few hours.  browse around for odds and ends.

...back to sleep.

I'm really happy with my new router.

the older one that I had was giving me all these disconnect problems all the time. now, get this... with this new router, I have yet to experience ANY disconnects.  granted, I've had this new thing for only about 12 hours now.  ..let's see how things work out in another month.

so far.   my new router is working like a charm.  happy as a clam.

last night, during the chat session at the free buffet, rob roy mentioned he might want to go to the mega-bangna today.  I said I would like to go with him at the time.  ...but now.  not sure why.  but I don't want to do anything but sleep some more.

toilet run news.

yesterday was one busy day for me.  got a lot of things done.

met up with barnaby for lunch at 2pm.  did the A n W over at pantip.  then, we went shopping for computer stuff.  I got some extension cords, power cords, computer stand, etc.. looked at this dual monitor mount, some computer cases.  had fun.

..couldn't find anyplace that sold logitech speakers.  weird.  was looking for 323s, or the 523s.  no luck in finding them.  decided to just get something cheap for $20.

barnaby and I left pantip at around 4:30pm.  went over to terminal 21.  did the butt shower.  had a snack.  while resting...  we decided to go over to the fortune town IT mall.  we had time.  so, I got my new router.  renewed my true isp contract for another year.

after I get my stuff done at true, we go looking around fortune town mall.  basically this is all new to barnaby.  in a way, I guess I was giving him a tour.  while chatting, I find out that barnaby is moving to bangkok from pattaya.  thomas jefferson is leaving pattaya.  going down south to another country to live.  will be sad to see the guy go.

at around 6:45pm, barnaby and I head over to the free buffet.  got there at 7:15pm thereabouts.  had a big turnout.  ROLL CALL!  barnaby, the white knight, sir lancelot, rob roy, the watcher, soobig park, laser paul, 2 newguys.  on the menu, we had green curry with chicken over noodles.

to the guys who went...  someone didn't pay their bill.  just wanted to let you know.  soobig park handled it.  so, whoever was the lowlife that skipped out on the bill, you can pay soobig.

one of the newguys essentially interrogated me.  asked me all these questions as to why I am the way I am.  lazy, non-productive, just a bum.  ..what can I say?  to the white knight who brought the guy into our group.  THANKS.  I really needed that.  ...know what I mean?

the newguy sort of reminded me of the mountain man.    yeah.  back when I was always hanging out in the lobby.  the mountain man came up to me.  and after a nice hello.  he goes into this rant about how I should be ashamed of myself for not contributing to society.  I says to him.. quote, "what do you think I should do?".  his reply... get a job.  after about an hour of ranting to me, he leaves.

it's been at least 5 years now since I last heard from the guy.  I wonder how he is doing?  funny guy.

anyway, at 8:30pm, a few of us went over to the parking lot.  we hung out there for maybe an hour.  guess who I saw at the parking lot?  the hansum man.  and deuce bigalow.  we talk.

at 9:30pm, I left everybody at the parking lot.  went over to the ranch.  talk about packed.  the place was full of people.  saw sidney.  met a newguy.  I didn't talk much.  was tired from all the walking earlier in the day. sat there quietly sipping on this hot coffee.  ..left the place early.  at around 10:20pm.  got home at 11pm.

after a 10 minute cold shower, I worked on my computers some.  installed my new router.  went to sleep at 3am.

it's about 7am now.  only 4 hours of sleep so far.  so, after this post, will get some more zzzz.  thinking of finally getting up at around noon.

yeah.   didn't stay out late today.  nevertheless, a FULL day.

what happened....

I left my apartment at 4pm this afternoon.  went over to the fortune town IT mall.  looking for logitech speakers. comb the whole mall.  didn't see any place that sold logitech speakers.  weird.  most places were selling creative lab stuff.  frankly, my last pair of speakers were from creative.  and I was pretty unhappy with them.  the power supply went out on my the first month I got them.  and I had to go with an universal power supply afterwards because nobody sells OEM power supplies for the creative stuff.  now get this...  the universal power supply says you have to key in the appropriate polarity before using the damn thing.  supposely, all electrical stuff have their polarity embedded on the devices.  the creative sbs a300 didn't have it.  (what a pain.)

so, I go online looking for what the polarity that I should configure the universal power adapter for.  NOBODY tells you straight out.  EVERYBODY tells you to get a multimeter to find out.

so, then, I go online looking for a multimeter to buy.  find these reviews sites that mention the "TekPower TP4000ZC - $29", and the "ExTech EX330 - $50" are top of the line for the midrange stuff.  with this info, I go to these shops at fortune town IT mall to find them.  after 15 minutes of searching for them, I quit looking.  the only stuff they have for sale in the way of multimeters at fortune town are these no name brands going for like $10 at the amorn electronics store.  wasn't sure of the quality.  so, didn't buy.

after the debacle looking for a multimeter, I went to the TRUE isp branch at the fortune town IT mall.  asked the people there for info on possible renewal of my contract so that I could get a new router.  they tell me I need passport to process the application.  ..I look at my clock.  5:30pm.

I tell the people at the IT city store  that I have a dinner engagement at 6pm.  I tell them I will return tomorrow to finish the application.

I get to the food court at terminal 21 at 5:50pm.   meet up with jim beam, rob roy, and barnaby at 6pm..  we do dinner.  we talk.  we make plans.

after dinner, we decide to go to the parking lot.  hangout there for a little while.  see barbee, luv.

at 8pm, we leave the parking lot.  I go the ranch.  get a hot coffee.  ogle a little.  no lounge lizards came while I was there.

at 9:10pm, I leave the ranch.  go home.

at 10pm, I'm back in my apartment.  watch some tv.  defiance on.

it's about 11pm now.  about ready to go to sleep.   tomorrow, my plan is to go to pantip.  look for the logitech speakers there. renew my contract with TRUE isp to get new router.   ..tomorrow night is free buffet night.

creative sbs a300 speakers no good?

last night, the speakers on my main desktop stop working.  UGH!  not sure what was up.  guess I'll need to buy another set of speakers.  so, for like an hour or so, I did the research on the net to find a suitable replacement.

thinking logitech stuff.  Z323?  Z523?  also bought a creative sound blaster x-fi sb1095 online.  what the hell.. splurge.  not going to take the money with me to the grave.  right?

it's about 3pm now.  the plan is to go look for a replacement speaker.  see what is available.  also thinking of getting multimeter to use for testing my stuff in the future.

if I have enough time, change my true isp service so that I can get a new router.  maybe not enough time for that today.

..called up barnaby.  we're meeting up at 6pm for dinner.  not going to say where.  hehehe.

so many people told me I'll be bored to death if I retired.  hey, to those guys in the peanut gallery..  come september 3rd, it'll be 15 years since I retired.  and I'm still keeping busy with one thing or another.

ghost?

are there ghost cockroaches and geckos?

the reason why I ask is because within the last 2 weeks, I've seen a couple of small geckos and one BIG - about 2 inches in size - cockroach wandering around my room at night.

but in the morning, I cannot find them.  even if I move all my furniture.

..so, where did they go?

just got word that barnaby is coming into town tomorrow for a couple of days.  to barnaby..  let's do the ranch tomorrow night.

another news break...  for those of you who know dela vega.  I hear tell he was at the hospital the other day.  not sure what was up.  will report when I get some feedback.

last but not least...  mike jagger tells me he is arriving on the night of may 27.  I'm thinking of meeting up with him the following day.
