my buddy, da brain, got me thinking about gold as an investment. off and on, he talks about how the usa dollar will go to pot someday soon. not that I think so. but just the same, I decided to look into it.
who knows? maybe da brain is right, and gold bullion will be where everybody's money should be.
a good boyscout will be prepared for whatever happens. I found this website that has a lot of information about gold, gold bullion, and gold coins. check it out.. Gold Coins Gain
I have a gold coin that my father passed on down to me. it's one of those $20 double eagles. nice to hear they are worth at least $2000 dollars now.

hey BB, you know there are quite a few ETFs that hold gold - no need to buy the real thing.
i'm always curious about people who say the dollar will go to pot. why exactly and, more importantly, against which currency? government debt? look at japan and western europe - they are going through the same thing (japan much more so over the past 10 years yet the yen is holding up remarkably well). I have my own theories, however, they tend not to be as dire as many other doomsayers.

The value of a double eagle also depends on the year it was minted. the links you have on your site as well as that gold coin link cannot be trusted or are simply scam, sorry. bullions are usually traded at their gold value, including most double eagles, but maybe yours is rare and has an extra value. plus, gold does not create interest rates or any dividend, it can be stolen and the purchasing price (especially of coins) is always lower than the selling price. be careful with gold investments i say.
